Chapter 520: Young and Impetuous. [524]

Summary

Yu Shi Nan, known for his honesty and integrity, is sent to Qingzhou to investigate the Bohai Society case, despite his brother Yu Shi Ji's doubts about his straightforward approach. Upon arrival, he meets Wei Xian, who informs him that General Zhang, the key figure in the Bohai Society's defeat, is actually stationed in Qinghe, not Beihai. Wei Xian hints that Yu Shi Nan's inquiry may be fruitless, as evidence is likely to be concealed. Meanwhile, Qian Chang Ping, conducting his own investigation, faces trouble when he and his subordinates are arrested by soldiers who mistake them for spies. In a parallel storyline, Yang Tan visits Emperor Yang Guang, who expresses concern over Zhang Xuan's potential dealings with the Bohai Society. Yang Guang reprimands Yang Tan for sending Yu Shi Nan to investigate and emphasizes the need for subtlety in dealing with military leaders like Zhang Xuan. He instructs Yang Tan to recall Yu Shi Nan to prevent any disastrous consequences and acknowledges that if Yu Shi Nan fails to find evidence, it could weaken his loyalty to the Sui dynasty.
