Summary

Five days have passed since the New Year, and Li Yan Qing and his team are nearing the end of their inspection in Zhen Ding County, where they have uncovered extensive corruption in the warehouses. They have inspected twenty-five out of thirty-seven warehouses, finding serious discrepancies and issues, leading Li Yan Qing to conclude that Chief Transport Envoy Liang Fang Ping is likely avoiding them due to the mounting evidence against him. As they inspect a major military supply warehouse, they discover that the actual inventory of siege weapons is drastically lower than recorded, indicating long-standing mismanagement and potential fraud. Despite the officials' attempts to downplay the situation, Li Yan Qing insists on reporting the actual inventory to avoid accountability issues later. Meanwhile, Liang Fang Ping is anxious about the inspection results and considers bribing Li Yan Qing to secure his silence, ultimately deciding to offer him a house in the capital along with a substantial sum of money to protect himself.
