Summary

Bai Xiao Chun rides out into the misty wilderness outside the Great Wall, reflecting on his past and his diminished fear of ghosts. He encounters wild spirits but decides not to engage with them, focusing instead on gathering souls. Upon discovering a significant number of wild souls in a valley, he uses a Soul Gathering Pill to absorb them. A Nascent Soul suddenly appears, consuming other wild souls but not noticing Bai Xiao Chun due to his mask. Realizing the mask grants him invisibility to the souls, he successfully captures the Nascent Soul and feels elated about his newfound power. Motivated by his success, he decides to explore further and collect more souls for military merits.
