Summary

In a mourning hall, the Son of Heaven, overwhelmed by grief for the Tai Huang Tai Hou, declares that all mourning rituals should follow her final wishes, allowing the people to mourn without restrictions. Liu De, relieved by this decree, reflects on the political turmoil of the Han dynasty, particularly the brewing Wu-Chu Rebellion. He recalls his complicated relationship with his younger brother, Liu Yan, who had supported him in his past life. Liu De worries for Liu Yan's future, as he is assigned to a dangerous fiefdom. Despite his own past struggles, he resolves to protect his brother from a similar fate.
