Summary

Zhang Xuan mourns the death of Zhang Xutuo and requests an investigation into his defeat. Meanwhile, Dou Jiande and Gao Shi Da threaten Qingzhou with their armies. Despite Qingzhou's progress, the region is under immense pressure. Dou Jiande secretly arrives in Liaocheng with 20,000 troops, planning to cross the Yellow River and attack Qijun and Beihai County. He sends spies to gather information and discovers that there are only 3,000 Sui troops on the opposite bank, which are local militia with poor equipment and training. Dou Jiande decides to cross the river at night. In Jibei County, Governor Song Wen Qian and General Zheng Lin are alerted to the bandits' crossing by a beacon and prepare to evacuate the county and confront the bandits.
