The Cold Door Hero

Summary

Li Yan Qing leaves a tavern and hails an ox cart back to the city, where he encounters a closed gate and hears about rampant contraband, particularly wine yeast cakes. As he travels, an arrow suddenly strikes his cart, prompting him to investigate. He discovers a note warning him not to attend a banquet at the Pan family, which he dismisses as a childish threat. Li Yan Qing then confronts a group of men who had been following him, quickly subduing them and learning they were sent by the young master of General Wang's estate to intimidate him. After returning the unconscious men to the Wang residence, he informs Wang Dao Qi of the attack, which was instigated by his son due to a personal rivalry over a woman. Wang Dao Qi, furious at his son’s actions, orders him to be brought back for punishment.
