Chapter 492: The Rebellious Little Tai Zi [492]
Summary
Wang Ning An returned to Xi Jing to handle various matters, including the stubborn Bao Zi Yan, who refused to leave without seeing Cui Xi Feng's corpse. Cui Xi Feng had been executed for treason, and his body was publicly displayed, causing the common people to express their hatred towards him. Wang Ning An promised to find a burial place for Cui Xi Feng's head after the display. As the New Year approached, Wang Ning An arranged for accommodations and supplies for scholars arriving for the imperial examination, seeking help from the wealthy monk Fo Yin. At home, he found his son Gou Ya Er deep in thought about the little Tai Zi's struggles with his studies. Gou Ya Er had pretended to be sick to avoid class, fearing the harsh teachings of the Confucian studies course. Wang Ning An reassured Gou Ya Er, dispelling his fears regarding a story about burying a child for gold. He and Yang Xi discussed the negative implications of such tales, expressing concern for their son's emotional well-being. Later, Wang Ning An took his sons to the palace to check on the Tai Zi, who appeared frail and injured. Wang Ning An was outraged to learn that the Tai Zi had been punished for speaking against Confucius, prompting him to confront Emperor Zhao Zhen about the unjust treatment of the young prince.Full content
