Summary

As night descends, Li Yan Qing is awakened by the sound of Si Si playing the zither in the courtyard. Si Si, feeling restless in her new home, shares her past and her longing for her brother, who she has been unable to find. They discuss family and the pressure of marriage, with Si Si expressing her hopes for a gentle and virtuous wife for Li Yan Qing. The next day, they prepare to honor Si Si's father's death anniversary at Fayin Temple, where she and her companion, Hu Qing Er, discuss makeup as a means of disguise for their outings. After the ceremony, they embark on their outing in a bullock cart, accompanied by guards Zhang Hu and Yang Guang, who navigate the dynamics of their group as they set off.
