Chapter 42: Depth of the Painted Eyebrows. [43]

Summary

Li Su, a merchant, was initially hesitant to compose a poem for Guo Yun due to the costs involved. However, after some deliberation, Li Su agreed to take on the task. Guo Yun asked Li Su to write a poem as if he were a student taking the imperial examination to gain a title, with Guo Yun as the examiner. Li Su wrote a poem that likened the examination to a bridal ceremony, conveying the anxiety and anticipation that came with it. Guo Yun was deeply moved by the poem and acknowledged that Li Su was a genius. Guo Yun even suggested that the poem could lead to Li Su becoming an official. Meanwhile, Li Su's father, Li Dao Zheng, was also impressed by the poem and saw it as an opportunity for his son to bring honor to their family.
