Generals of the Great Song Dynasty.
Chapter 416: The Great Song Shall Prevail. [416]
Summary
Zhao Zhen maintains a low profile by agreeing to Wang Ning An's demands, such as not appearing in front of soldiers and not wearing bright armor. Despite the constraints, the Song army grows to 100,000 troops, but they face a critical food shortage. Wang Liang Jing and Di Qing achieve victories, but Ye Lu Hong Ji's army remains a threat. The Song army suffers significant losses due to Liao ambushes, particularly in livestock. Wang Ning An expresses concern over Ye Lu Hong Ji's newfound strength, while Zhao Zhen proposes negotiations to lure him into battle. Zhao Zhen's plan involves suggesting a truce to hint at the emperor's presence in Youzhou, but Di Qing is initially opposed. After sending a messenger, they learn Ye Lu Hong Ji demands the Song army's retreat and the surrender of Zhong Yuan. Wang Ning An struggles with Ye Lu Hong Ji's tactics until Murong Qing Chen volunteers to lead a diversionary attack. The Song forces are split, with a substantial contingent heading to Shun Zhou. As they depart, Zhao Zhen inspires the troops, boosting their morale before the impending battle.Full content
