Chapter 415: The Battle of the Three Emperors. [415]
Summary
Di Qing assigned Yang Wen Guang to guard Juyong Pass and Xiao Jin to Chang Ping, while he returned to Youzhou with his army to join Wang Ning An. Upon arrival, Di Qing learned of Wang Liang Jing's victory over Xiao Lu's army, which shifted the war's balance. The Liao Kingdom's forces were still a threat, with Ye Lu Hong Ji's elite army of 100,000 remaining. Di Qing inquired about their mobilizable troops, and Wang Ning An reported they had around 70,000 soldiers, boosted by his strategic changes in Zhong Yuan's ranks. Wang Ning An had replaced high-ranking Liao officers with loyal subordinates from smaller tribes, enhancing morale and combat strength. Tension rose when Emperor Zhong Yuan barged in, furious over Wang Ning An's actions regarding his concubine. Wang Ning An cleverly deflected the emperor's anger by using historical examples to persuade him about the ruthless nature of leadership. Just as they settled, news arrived that Zhao Zhen, the emperor, was coming to the front lines, causing panic among Wang Ning An and Di Qing. When Zhao Zhen arrived, he expressed gratitude for the soldiers' sacrifices, emphasizing the need for further commitment to reclaim Yan Yun. Wang Ning An and others knelt, vowing to continue their fight until victory was achieved.Full content
