Summary

About three miles north of the dock, 1,000 infantry soldiers lay hidden in the forest, waiting for orders while fierce fighting erupted at the dock. Li Yan Qing led cavalry into the woods, anticipating fleeing soldiers from the dock. As panic set in among the fleeing troops, Li Yan Qing ordered a charge to intercept them. Guan Sheng, a general from the Liangshan army, attempted to fight back but was ultimately forced to flee after being shot at by Li Yan Qing. Despite Wang Gui's desire for revenge, Li Yan Qing chose to let Guan Sheng escape. The battle concluded with the Black Tortoise Camp achieving a significant victory, annihilating 1,000 Liangshan soldiers and boosting morale. Later, they captured a wounded soldier who provided valuable intelligence about Song Jiang's orders to abandon Bozhou and consolidate forces at Daming Prefecture. Li Yan Qing dispatched cavalry to escort prisoners and led his troops northward. Meanwhile, Yang Xiong commanded 3,000 Liangshan troops marching toward Daming Prefecture, enjoying hospitality in Liaocheng as they prepared for the next leg of their journey. Li Yan Qing, waiting outside Liaocheng, learned from scouts that the Liangshan army had set up a poorly fortified camp and were unprepared for a surprise attack. He decided to wait for the right moment to strike, planning to annihilate the entire Liangshan army.
