Chapter 40: The Wonderful Encounter Between the Cat and the Young Girl. [39]
Summary
In this chapter, Sawayama Haruno and Maki Miyazawa discuss the problem of keeping a cat named Salmon Ball at home. Maki, who appears pouting and cute when gloomy, reveals her reluctance to do physical labor or night shifts, indirectly showing her affection for the cat. Sawayama insists on taking care of her concerns, recognizing her attachment to Salmon Ball. After their conversation, he heads to his room for a nap, while Maki, feeling frustrated by the limited topics in their relationship and the absence of the cat, kicks the sofa in exasperation. Later, Sawayama finds himself in Chiyoda District, feeling disappointed after visiting a teppanyaki restaurant that did not meet his expectations. As he contemplates his next move, he unexpectedly runs into Ezaki Naoha, who is friendly and direct, immediately asking about Maki. They talk about Maki's newfound friendship with Jiang, who had been someone Maki could talk to while Sawayama was busy. Jiang offers to accompany Sawayama as he goes shopping for cat supplies, revealing that she has experience with pets. Sawayama debates the idea, ultimately agreeing to let her join him, feeling comfortable about the simple outing. Jiang insists on being called by her first name, which highlights her straightforward nature. The chapter ends with Sawayama reflecting on the dynamics and relationships between the girls in his life.Full content
