Chapter 4: The Forgotten Secrets of Youth. [3]
Summary
In this chapter, Sawayama Haruno reflects on the enthusiasm of first-year students at the University of Tokyo, contrasting it with his own indifference. He is approached by his classmate, Mine Shiori, who invites him to a café to thank him for returning her lost necklace. Although taken by surprise, he agrees to meet her despite being preoccupied with worries about his sister, Maki. Mine Shiori follows him to class, where they end up sitting together, allowing Haruno to notice her beauty and consider her potential popularity among peers. They discuss family dynamics, revealing Shiori’s wise perspective on dealing with sibling conflict. Haruno acknowledges his own feelings of concern for his sister but admits they're somewhat selfish. Maki Miyazawa, Haruno's sister, wakes up feeling confused and remorseless after the events of the previous night when she fantasized about being treated as an older sister. Despite recognizing that her thoughts are unhealthy, she grapples with her inability to dismiss them. The chapter ends with her acknowledging the emptiness of being compared to her sister, Mana.Full content
