Chapter 395: Accompanying the Capital. [395]
Summary
Zhao Zhen is furious after Tian Fang is dragged away and thinks of a little Taoist priest who was also poisoned. Wang Ning An reveals that the priest is from Shanxi and loves sour food, which led to lead poisoning from storing vinegar in a lead-containing porcelain bottle. This incident leads to the discovery that lead and mercury are deadly poisons and that the palace has accumulated toxins over the years, causing many mysterious deaths. Zhao Zhen decides to relocate the capital and tasks Wang Ning An with overseeing the relocation. Wen Yan Bo submits a proposal to elevate Luo Yang to the status of West Capital, which impresses Zhao Zhen. Wang Ning An admires Wen Yan Bo's thoughtful consideration and suggests sending officials to investigate the situation in Luo Yang. Zhao Zhen decides to designate Luo Yang as the secondary capital, hoping to find a location closer to a seaport.Full content
