Summary

Zhao Zhen is troubled by ancient scrolls and Tian Fang claims lead is non-toxic. Empress Cao suggests testing Tian Fang's claim, and Wang Ning An proposes a contest where Tian Fang and others will live in a lead-filled environment for three months. If they remain healthy, Wang Ning An will admit defeat, but if they fall ill, it will prove lead is toxic. The experiment begins, and Tian Fang is forced to participate. Wang Ning An sets up a control group of 30 prisoners who will be fed lead powder daily. The citizens of the capital gather to observe the experiment, and after two months, Tian Fang and the Taoists appear healthy and full of vigor, leading many to believe in the power of the Immortal arts.
