The Cold Door Hero

Summary

Li Kui, having drunk heavily the night before, is abruptly awakened by a soldier who informs him of a massacre in the main courtyard. Panicked and without proper attire, he rushes to find Hou Meng and discovers numerous corpses, including Hou Meng's, whose skull has been crushed. Enraged, Li Kui demands to find the murderer. Meanwhile, a figure in black, having killed Hou Meng, warns a surviving attendant to inform the court that Liang Shan Jun will not surrender. Later, Li Yan Qing visits the aging Zhong Shi Dao, who expresses concern over recent events and the lack of rewards from the court. They discuss the political maneuvering of Commander Yao and the disbanding of military offices. Li Yan Qing reveals that the attempt to pacify Liang Shan Jun has failed following Hou Meng's assassination, leading to plans for an attack on Liangshan.
