Summary

On the fifth day of the first month, Hou Meng, the prefect of Bozhou, arrived in Luqiao Town to solicit the Liangshan army. A former magistrate of Yuncheng, he had connections with Song Jiang, the Liangshan leader. After the fall of Yang Jian, Hou Meng avoided punishment and was promoted, but now faced pressure from the new prime minister, Wang Fu, to negotiate with Liangshan. He met with Wu Yong, a military strategist of the Liangshan army, who welcomed him on behalf of Song Jiang. They discussed the court's offer for Liangshan to disband in exchange for official positions, with Wu Yong expressing his desire for a county magistrate role. Both sides showed willingness to negotiate, with Hou Meng promising to report back to the court for better conditions. Wu Yong returned to Xucheng to inform Song Jiang, while Li Kui and his soldiers provided security for Hou Meng.
