Summary

Li Su, a young man, has become successful in the book printing business in Chang'an City, where people are eager for knowledge. He practices calligraphy and writes poetry, but his handwriting is unimpressive. Dong Yang, the princess, discovers his poem "With Great Success And Satisfaction, Horse Hooves Gallop" and is impressed by its beauty, despite the ugly handwriting. Li Su tries to sell the poem to her for three taels of silver, but she refuses, considering it improper to buy and sell poetry.
