Summary

Zhang Xuan's forces caught up with Wang Bao's troops at night but chose to wait for the main army before attacking. As the Sui army launched a simultaneous assault on Wang Bao's camp, a herd of wounded cattle charged through, allowing Wang Bao and his cavalry to escape. Despite Zhang Xuan's orders to pursue, the bandit army began to surrender in panic. After securing the area, Zhang Xuan planned to escort prisoners and supplies to Sishui County while he continued the pursuit. Meanwhile, Wang Bao, realizing his mistake in choosing a base, fled toward Qufu County. Pei Xingyan, leading a smaller cavalry force, mistakenly pursued a different path but eventually caught up with Xu Shun Ming, a bandit leader, whom he killed in frustration after realizing Wang Bao had escaped.
