Summary

Huo Yan, after a ten-day seclusion, approaches Chen, who presents him with the Fire God Staff, hinting at a method to achieve their goals. The Black Fire Tribe, initially aggressive, suddenly becomes passive, causing relief among southern tribes. Despite their apparent calm, the Black Fire Tribe struggles internally with integrating captives and suppressing worship of their original deities, leading to executions to instill fear. Ambitious young warriors desire to conquer southern tribes, creating tension that Huo Yan manages to control. Meanwhile, Chen remains detached, preparing to return north, yet recognizes the need to assist Huo Yan with the pressing issue of selecting a new priest. Huo Yan's insistence on choosing from within the tribe falters upon discovering there are no suitable candidates, leading to anger and contemplation over potential rebellion if outsiders are chosen. Chen reveals potential candidates from other tribes, including one named Ye Zi, who is linked to him.
