Chapter 35: Give Me a Reason (2). [71]

Summary

Chu Tian is questioned by Zi Xiao Sheng about his involvement in the gold robbery and the killing of state soldiers and Ling family's private troops. Chu Tian admits to the killings, stating they were justified as they tried to rob and kill him. However, he remains silent when asked about killing the Chu family generals. Zi Xiao Sheng seems curious and non-threatening, claiming he has no ties to the Chu family or any faction in the Da Jin court. As the Chu family reinforcements approach, Chu Tian and Zi Xiao Sheng flee, with Aunt Feng and her guards following. When they stop, Zi Xiao Sheng presses Chu Tian for an explanation. Chu Tian reveals his true identity as the head of a fish stall and an orphan from Min Zhou who was taken in by the Da Yu Temple. He was sent to Biao Zhou to investigate the Chu family's betrayal of the temple 18 years ago. Zi Xiao Sheng finds this interesting and justifies Chu Tian's actions as chasing down traitors. As they converse, the Chu family private soldiers approach, clad in black heavy armor and howling loudly.
