Chapter 315: Pei Luo Competes for Merit. [318]

Summary

Yishui County, located 150 miles from Dong'an County, is a small, impoverished area with over a thousand bandit troops. It serves as a strategic passage between Langya and Gaomi Counties. Meng Rang, a former leader, has stationed his forces there after fleeing Gaomi County. His cousin, Meng An, commands the garrison and receives orders from Sun Xuan Ya to defend against the Sui army. Meng An, previously a street thug, is anxious about the impending Sui attack. A scout brings news that the Sui army, led by the formidable Wei Chi Gong, is approaching. Fearing for his troops, Meng An decides to retreat. However, the bandit forces panic and flee Yishui County, leaving it open for Pei Xingyan's Sui army to enter. As the bandits struggle to carry their plundered goods during their retreat, they are ambushed by Sui soldiers led by Luo Shi Xin.
