Chapter 313: Sorrowful Thoughts of Parting. [320]
Summary
Li Su was preparing to embark on a journey from Chang'an to Xizhou. He preferred a life of ease and luxury, but the journey would be a difficult test for him. To prepare, they had to get three large horse-drawn carriages and two more for carrying bathing water, as Li Su couldn't go a day without bathing. Zheng Xiao Lou, Li Su's loyal guard, was initially supposed to stay behind to take care of Li Su's elderly father and Madam. However, Li Su decided to bring Zheng Xiao Lou along, considering the dangers of the journey. It took three days to prepare everything for the five horse-drawn carriages. During this time, Li Su bid farewell to many veteran generals, prominent ministers, and Sun Si Miao. The veteran generals hosted grand banquets, while the ministers' banquets were more formal and refined. Li Su didn't bid farewell to Li Shi Min, the Emperor, due to their complicated relationship. Li Shi Min had shown him favor on the surface but often reprimanded him and sabotaged his romantic relationship with Dong Yang's daughter. After bidding farewell to his family and villagers, Li Su set off on the road with his horse carriages. He was considered a high-ranking official as the fourth-rank assistant governor.Full content
