Chapter 307: Thunder And Lightning Purge. [314]

Summary

Li Su, a veteran general, learned about his potential exile to the border through a conversation with Cheng Yaojin, who mentioned the kingdom of Gaochang. Although Li Su was initially worried, he later discovered that he might not be imprisoned for long, and his family was safe. However, being exiled to the border was still a severe punishment. Li Su was concerned about the harsh climate and living conditions but more so about the impact on his appearance. Meanwhile, a purge was launched on the imperial court, with many officials being arrested, and over 200 people were beheaded. The five noble families were unable to intervene, and the atmosphere in the city was tense. Later, an imperial decree announced the abolition of the construction of the Daming Palace, and an amnesty notice was posted. The story concludes with Li Su being released from prison after an imperial decree declared him innocent. However, Li Su unexpectedly expressed his desire to stay in prison rather than leave, leaving the guards shocked and heartbroken.
