Judgment of Dayu.
Chapter 30: "Winds and Clouds in the Inner Court: The Rebirth of Royal Power". [32]
Summary
Yi, after failing to appoint the Ji Clan's Great Lord, sought to reclaim power from Dayu by reforming the inner court, as external reforms were constrained. He consulted the San Gong, who agreed that inner court matters were for the Great King to decide, allowing Yi to proceed with his plans. Yi aimed to strengthen royal authority by establishing three new offices: the Wang Ji Supervisory Office for military oversight, the Inner Treasury Office for direct communication with Earth Officials, and the Yanwei Office for judicial matters. These reforms expanded Yi's influence and solidified grassroots support by connecting directly with tribal leaders. Dayu and Qi became wary of Yi's growing power, prompting them to devise strategies to counteract his influence, including expediting Qi's ascension and tightening oversight over Yi. Qi, realizing the precariousness of his position, initiated plans to limit Yi's power while forming two teams to eliminate opposition, starting with Yi's ally from the Ji Clan.Full content
