Summary

The narrator expresses concern for Xiao He Shang, an elderly man close to his family. Upon entering a bomb shelter, he finds Xiao He Shang injured and bleeding. Despite attempts to save him, Xiao He Shang acknowledges his impending death and reflects on his life before succumbing. The narrator's friends, Sun Pang Zi and Li Rong Guo, arrive, devastated by Xiao He Shang's death. They recall a warning he shared about potential dangers and a demon's alchemical practices in the shelter. As they explore, they encounter a wild man, the dark alchemist, who claims responsibility for Xiao He Shang's death and threatens them.
