Chapter 28: Selling Poems and Essays. [29]
Summary
Li Su, a 15-year-old boy, traveled to Chang'an City with the Wang brothers. He was in awe of the city's ancient history and grandeur. The trio visited a blacksmith's workshop to inquire about creating a movable-type printing plate, but the blacksmith declined due to lack of materials and skilled craftsmen. Li Su needed lead and tin, which were not easily available. He considered visiting the Zheng Sheng Palace, a Taoist temple, to find alchemists who might have the necessary materials, but he had no money. Li Su's goal was to sell his poems to make a name for himself and earn money. He believed that selling his poems wouldn't matter, as he could remember dozens of them. The Wang brothers were puzzled by Li Su's intention to sell his poems, as they saw poetry as a form of learning. Li Su's lack of funds was a significant problem, and he needed to find a way to make money first. He spotted a muscular man eating at a noodle stall and saw an opportunity. Li Su approached the man, who could read, and planned to get straight to the point.Full content
