Chapter 27: First Entry into Chang'an. [28]
Summary
Li Su and the Wang brothers arrived in Chang'an City, a place of prosperity and vicissitudes, where they hoped to sell Li Su's poems and make a name for themselves. Li Su had encountered a scholar named Guo Nu, who was unwilling to pay for his poem, but instead wanted to extract all the good lines from him. This encounter left Li Su disappointed, but it also gave him an idea to find a degenerate person who would be willing to buy his poems. He decided to take action and headed into the city with the Wang brothers, where they encountered numerous merchant caravans and small vendors. Li Su used his charming face to beg for rides and eventually, they hitched a ride on an ox cart for most of their journey. Upon arriving in the city, the Wang brothers shared their sorrows with Li Su, who struggled to offer words of comfort. However, his attempts at consolation only made the brothers more disheartened. The group continued their journey, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city, until they finally arrived at the Xiping Gate, where they entered the city, excited and filled with anticipation.Full content
