Chapter 26: Buddha's Bone. [26]
Summary
Shangguan Qing, unaware that Ning Chang Sheng had thoroughly understood his estate’s layout, proudly invited him inside. Ning noticed a Buddha statue emitting an ominous aura, which Shangguan Qing ignorantly sat near. Shangguan served rare Golden Melon Tribute Tea, which Ning praised. Shangguan then showcased his collection of medicinal herbs, but Ning dismissed them as insufficiently rare, listing specific century-old herbs he sought. Shangguan offered to help find them. Ning revealed the Buddha statue contained a cursed Buddha’s bone from Emperor Xianzong of the Tang Dynasty, warning it would bring ruin to Shangguan’s family. Despite Shangguan’s pride in the artifact, Ning insisted it was a source of misfortune, leading to a tense confrontation.Full content
