Judgment of Dayu.

Chapter 258: "Provocation from the Enemy Camp, Winds and Clouds". [260]

Summary

Dayu and his son viewed the situation with Yi Di differently, believing that whether Yi Di succeeded or failed in commanding a retreat would affect his reputation and their plans. A decree of amnesty was drafted for Yi Di, ordering the besieging enemies to withdraw, which Dayu approved. The Guandou tribe elder decided to meet Yi Di, showcasing their military strength to intimidate the defenders of Jun Tai. Yi Di, surprised by the formidable enemy presence, issued a decree for the rebels to retreat, but was alarmed by their shouts for his rescue. After returning to his residence, Yi Di advised his wives to remain humble and cautious. Dayu, upon hearing the report of the situation, concluded that the rebels were using Yi Di as a pretext for their rebellion rather than genuinely seeking to rescue him.
