Summary

In the Lamp Shadow Temple, a secluded yet grand structure in the mountains, an old monk and a young monk named Fa Hua welcome a group of guests. The old monk leaves Fa Hua to explain the temple's simple living conditions, including limited meals and no electricity. As the guests choose rooms, tensions rise between Chai Shan and Duan Zengtian. Meanwhile, Ning Qiushui and Liu Chengfeng discover an unsettling piece of paper with the phrase "Become a Buddha" hidden among old scriptures. They reflect on Buddhist tales, particularly one about the Buddha sacrificing himself to save a dove, as the temple bell signals dinner.
