Summary

On the night before Cheng Dalei's execution, Qing Ye Fo frees him from prison, offering him an hour of unprotection in Chang'an. As they escape, Cheng encounters various figures, including Bai Li Sheng, who ignores him, and a crowd of followers who emerge from the shadows, eager to support him. They manage to leave the city without hindrance, despite the confusion of the guards. Once outside, Qing Ye Fo presents Cheng with official robes and a title, hinting at a larger plan involving royal energy in the northwest. Cheng expresses a desire to rescue his brother still imprisoned.
