Summary

Li Su has grown accustomed to the gossip and stares of the villagers in Taiping Village. He's learned to accept their opinions, no matter how outrageous they may be. However, when Wang Zhi returns after a short absence, Li Su is taken aback. Wang Zhi expresses his longing for Hu Nü and asks Li Su to take him to see her. Li Su is torn but ultimately agrees to help. He suggests that Wang Zhi and Hu Nü can get married the next spring, but notes that convincing Wang Zhi's parents will be difficult due to their Guanzhong heritage and discriminative views towards outsiders. Wang Zhi's return also brings up the topic of the Feng family case and the prince's potential retaliation. Li Su is worried that the prince's inaction is a sign that he is building up strength for a future attack. Wang Zhi suggests provoking the prince into making a move, but Li Su is hesitant, finding it humiliating to intentionally make someone else's fist hit him in the face.
