Chapter 240: All People are Drunk. [247]
Summary
Li Su, a wealthy man, spent 2000 taels to purchase over 2000 bolts of cloth from a merchant named Sun Pinggui. He accepted the original price without haggling, showing kindness and compassion. The merchant was grateful and thanked Li Su profusely. Li Su felt a sense of accomplishment and invited the merchant to sit with him in the courtyard. He asked the merchant about his family and business, showing interest in his life. However, Cheng Chumo, a skilled warrior, intervened and told Li Su to stop joking around. Li Su's actions were seen as unusual by Cheng Chumo and the other warriors. Sun Pinggui worked quickly to deliver the cloth to Taiping Village, where Li Su's family had a large plot of land. However, when the cloth arrived, Li Dao Zheng, Li Su's family member, chased Sun Pinggui around the village, intent on teaching him a lesson. The reason was that white cloth was considered unlucky and associated with mourning. Li Su managed to escape the chase and hired laborers to set up a canopy using the white cloth. The neat rows of white canopies attracted the attention of the villagers, who began to gossip about the strange sight. Li Su's actions were seen as unusual and the villagers looked at him differently. He had spent a large amount of money on the white cloth, only to spread it out on the ground.Full content
