Summary

More than a month later, Shi Mu and Liu An are traveling together in a caravan heading to Tian Yu City for the Ascension Auction, which occurs every thirty years. The auction accepts only Spirit Stones as currency. After a recent attack on their caravan, a frail young boy named Hong expresses his gratitude to Shi Mu and Liu An for their assistance during the ambush. Later, while Shi Mu is by the river, he attempts to summon his spirit pet, Yan Luo, but their encounter is interrupted by Liu An, who reveals he was out for a stroll. Liu An expresses interest in Shi Mu's abilities as a Soul Scholar and offers to introduce him to other Soul Scholars. Shi Mu ponders this as Liu An leaves.
