Summary
Li Su, a 15-year-old boy, was facing a food crisis in the Tang Dynasty. His father, Li Dao Zheng, was unreliable and told Li Su to go hungry for a day, promising to borrow food from the Shi family the next day. Li Su, determined to make himself a reliable person, took matters into his own hands. He used his skills to create a simple tool from branches and stones and headed to the Hu family's residence, their landlord, to try and acquire food. Li Su had an idea to renovate the Hu family's outhouse and created a simple flush toilet, which impressed the steward. He hoped to use this invention to acquire food for his family.Full content
