Summary

Li Yan Qing witnesses his father, Li Da Qi, being bullied by three children, which prompts him to send their dog, Da Hei, to defend his father. Despite his complicated feelings towards his father, Li Yan Qing feels compelled to protect him. After the incident, Li Da Qi expresses frustration and accidentally hurts his son while trying to discipline the dog. Li Yan Qing, feeling humiliated by his father's weakness and the bullying, retreats to sulk. His father tries to cheer him up with a syrup pancake, but Li Yan Qing is still upset. Later that night, he overhears his father talking to his deceased mother’s spirit tablet and discovers that Da Qi has saved a significant amount of money, likely to improve their lives. This revelation leads Li Yan Qing to reflect on his family's struggles and cry silently in bed.
