The Great Idle Person of the Zhenguan Era.
Chapter 19: Yellow Bird in the Rear. [20]
Summary
The Hu Family's business was crushed by the Zheng Family through tactics like forming alliances, strangling supply chains, and using authorities to shut down stores. The Hu Family paid a heavy price, selling their stores at a low price and their 300 mu of land for 50 taels. The villagers, who had a good relationship with the Hu Family, escorted them out of the village, crying and bowing to show respect. The dispute between the Hu and Zheng families spread, with the Zheng family acting low-key after defeating their rival. The news reached Li Shi Min, who was enraged and decided to take a stand. A royal decree was issued, granting the 9th daughter of the emperor, the Dong Yang Princess, a fiefdom of a hundred households, including the former Hu Family's 300 mu of land in Taiping Village. The imperial court compensated the Zheng Family twice the amount they paid for the land, taking away the land and giving them 100 guan in cash.Full content
