The Great Idle Person of the Zhenguan Era.
Chapter 18: The Great Change of the Hu Family. [19]
Summary
Li Su sat on the riverbank with the Wang brothers, lost in thought as the spring breeze caressed his face. The Wang brothers were anxious about Li Su's state, as he had resigned from his position and they didn't understand the reasons. Li Su reassured them that he was fine, but the brothers continued to chat idly beside him. They discussed a recent event in the village, where the Hu Family had sold all their shops and land for a very low price, and were forced to move out. Li Su was intrigued by this news and asked if the Hu Family had offended someone. The Wang brothers explained that the Hu Family had offended the Zheng Family, a powerful and influential family in the silk business, and had been forced to give up their assets as a result. The Hu Family had tried to capture the market by slashing their prices, but this move had threatened the livelihoods of their fellow merchants and given the Zheng Family an excuse to strike back.Full content
