Summary

In the New Bridge Tavern, Zheng Rong Tai is concerned about his weight after a doctor warns him that he could die young and be unable to have children if he continues to gain weight. He shares his worries with Li Yan Qing, who suggests a method to lose weight by playing in water and adjusting his diet. Zheng Rong Tai decides to try it. They discuss Zhu Yan and his son, Zhu Tao, revealing that Zhu Tao is angry about the competition from Zheng's Baoyanzhai shop. Li Yan Qing learns that the Hong Wang Rouge Shop, owned by the Zhu family, is struggling due to Baoyanzhai's success and is warned to be cautious of Zhu Tao. After lunch, Zheng Rong Tai goes home to dig a pool, while Li Yan Qing visits Baoyanzhai, which is thriving. He encounters Gu Tiezhu, who is monitoring the shop for troublemakers. Li Yan Qing's father, Li Da Qi, discusses a potential partnership with the Zhang Gu Lao Rouge Shop to acquire floral essences and sell Lan Dai perfume, but Li Qing expresses the need to secure land for future distillation. They conclude that Dong Dong wants to pursue his own path.
