Summary

Cai You, the eldest son of Cai Jing, visits his father in the study, where they discuss family matters, including the health of Cai You's second uncle, Cai Bian, who is gravely ill. Cai Jing expresses disdain for his brother and instructs Cai You to pay respects on his behalf if he passes. They then turn to the topic of Mr. Yuan Miao, a Daoist who has gained favor with the emperor, Zhao Ji. Cai You reports that the emperor regrets appointing the crown prince too early, leading to speculation about potential power shifts among the princes. Meanwhile, Li Yan Qing returns to the capital and learns that he has been moved to a more prestigious dormitory at the Taixue, which allows him greater independence and the option to bring his family and maidservants. His friend Zheng Pang Zi greets him, expressing excitement about the new arrangement.
