Chapter 160: Customs of Chu. [159]
Summary
Zhao Hong Run, accompanied by his guard Zhang Ao, encounters Meng Wei and Pei Zhan in a courtyard where they are drinking. Teasing them about their reluctance to return to their rooms, Zhao Hong Run reflects on the alluring sounds from the nearby rooms, indicating the indulgence of other generals. Despite their scholarly dignity, Meng Wei and Pei Zhan are troubled by their own desires. Zhao Hong Run reveals his discomfort with a young girl sent to him by Yang She Tao, the clan chief, who mistakenly believed Zhao Hong Run desired her. As the night progresses, the three men share drinks, contemplating the implications of their situation and the customs of the State of Chu. Eventually, Zhao Hong Run decides to check on the girl, only to find her asleep, having likely been instructed by her grandfather.Full content
