Chapter 16: The Roots Have Drawings. [16]
Summary
The chapter depicts a scene where a young man presents a painting to Ding Dang, eliciting mixed reactions from the crowd, particularly from women. Ding Dang, initially pleased, becomes angry when mocked by someone in the crowd, leading her to leave abruptly. Lu Chen observes the situation with indifference and engages in a conversation with an old fisherman, Old Yu, who believes he can catch a mystical fish. As Lu Chen prepares to leave, he notices something strange at the base of a large locust tree, discovering a fresh carving that intrigues him. He questions Old Yu about any newcomers in the village, but learns that few people interact with the fisherman. After their exchange, Lu Chen encounters a weary young man inquiring about a nearby tea mountain, hinting at potential new developments in the story.Full content
