Summary
Lu Chen leaves a tavern in Shimizu Pond Village, feeling satisfied after a meal. The village is bustling with activity as harvest season approaches, but the local specialty, Spirit Tea and Spirit Grain, are of limited use to cultivators. Lu Chen, who has lived in the village for years, uses his tea fields as a cover to obtain spirit stones without much effort. While strolling, he notices dried blood from a recent corpse but chooses to return to the village. He soon hears a commotion across the creek and finds a crowd gathered around a handsome young scholar painting a woman, who turns out to be Ding Dang. The young man's skill captivates the crowd, leading to applause when he finishes the painting. Ding Dang, both annoyed and pleased, questions why he chose to paint her, to which he responds that he found her beautiful and offers to paint for others as well.Full content
