Summary

Zhang Xuan experiences a day of misfortunes, facing cold treatment from the Yang family and being expelled by Yang Qi's wife. He learns about Yang Qi's long absence and meets Yang Qing Ming, a frail family member who feels anxious about an impending bandit attack. Zhang Xuan offers to take Qing Ming's place in defending the village, impressing the Yang family with his strength. As chaos ensues during the night, Zhang Xuan deduces that an enemy has infiltrated the ancestral hall after discovering a corpse. He saves Yang Wen Xian from an arrow and pursues the assassin, only to find it is Yang Qing Ming, who reveals himself as an undercover agent for a rebellion. Zhang Xuan kills him, realizing the attack was part of a larger plot against the Yang family.
