Chapter 16: Heart and Nature [15]

Summary

Li Hao stops playing chess and walks to the courtyard, followed closely by Li Fu, who is concerned about a recent assassination attempt. Li Fu decides to protect Li Hao closely, scrutinizing anyone who approaches him. Meanwhile, Bian Ru Xue, practicing sword fighting, seems disheartened by her struggles. Li Hao comforts her, contrasting her hard work with his more leisurely lifestyle, which annoys Li Fu, who values hard work and discipline. Despite Li Fu's disapproval, Li Hao casually offers Bian Ru Xue advice on her swordsmanship, which surprisingly helps her improve. Li Fu begins to recognize Li Hao's potential talent in swordsmanship, despite his lack of formal training. The next day, Bian Ru Xue challenges an illegitimate son named Li Dong Bai, who has a reputation for being skilled. Their duel attracts attention, and the military instructor observes the competition, believing it will help the young fighters grow. However, the match takes a tense turn when a sword flies out of the arena, halting the excitement.
