Chapter 15: Defeated [14]

Summary

In the Yan Bei border, a gloomy atmosphere prevails as the city of Yuan Yue Cheng is surrounded by demonic figures and blood-stained ground. A young woman, unconcerned, gnaws on a finger while a black bird transforms into a young man, Lord Bai Shen, who plays a zither and contemplates a failed assassination attempt on a child. The group discusses the failure and the need for a new plan, revealing tensions with the Divine General's residence. Meanwhile, Li Hao, the targeted child, is unaware of the assassination plot as his family tightens security. After learning of the attempt, Xing Wu Hou sends a trusted aide, Li Fu, to protect Li Hao. As time passes, Li Hao, now seven, engages in playful banter with Li Fu, who reflects on the absence of Li Hao's parents due to the ongoing war. The chapter concludes with Li Hao's concern for his friend Bian Ru Xue, who is upset after losing a duel, revealing his compassionate nature.
