Chapter 159: To Raise and Lower. [166]
Summary
A heavy atmosphere filled the room as everyone held their breath in silence, fearing Li Ye's anger. Li Su, however, was not afraid, knowing he was a talented individual Li Ye couldn't afford to lose. Li Ye finally broke the silence, demanding to know who was responsible for the previous night's fire. Li Su took the blame, but was quickly followed by Yang Yan and Chen Tang, who also took responsibility. Xu Jingzong investigated and discovered the fire was caused by a lamp falling onto a table with Heaven-Shaking Thunderbolts, which detonated and killed several craftsmen. Li Shi Min was furious, but eventually learned the truth and was relieved to find it wasn't an intentional act to steal gunpowder secrets. He praised the deceased craftsmen, awarding their families 10,000 gold coins and 10 mu of land, while punishing Li Su with a three-month salary deduction and promoting Yang Yan to junior supervisor.Full content
