Summary

Shen Jiao expresses joy over harvesting mugwort, a herb valued for its detoxifying and health benefits. The Shen family has a tradition of using mugwort in various ways throughout the seasons. As they gather mugwort, Shen Jiao reminisces about its uses and the family's history with it. Ma Xing Hua joins her in the harvest, and they share playful banter about cooking with mugwort. While they work, they notice a beehive, which excites Ma Xing Hua despite Shen Jiao's caution about wasps. As evening approaches, they finish gathering and prepare to leave, but Ma Xing Hua remembers she forgot firewood and insists on staying behind. Shen Jiao and the shepherd, Shi Guang Shan, leave her there, unaware that Sun Mao Dan is lurking nearby with malicious intentions. After they depart, Ma Xing Hua gathers firewood but is soon left alone. When Shen Jiao returns to find Ma Xing Hua missing and the area in disarray, she instinctively draws her dagger, sensing danger.
